Kuwait Towers were actually the water tanks. These are three slender towers in the city that stand on promontory into the Persian Gulf. Officially, they were inaugurated on 26^th February 1977. These are recognized as a landmark. Now, these towers also serve as a symbol of modern Kuwait.

The main tower boasts of carrying two spheres. The lower sphere contains in its bottom half a water tank of 4,500 cubic m. The upper half of it has a restaurant that can accommodate 90 persons at a time. Rising to 123 m above the sea level, the upper sphere completes a turn every 30 minutes. The third tower encompasses equipment to control the flow of electricity. It also holds responsibility of illuminating the two larger towers. The towers contain 9,000 cubic meters of water altogether. It will not be wrong to say that Kuwait Towers are actually water tanks.

According to the architect who built them, the Kuwait Towers refer to ideals of technology and humanity. Marked by the globe and the rocket, Kuwait Towers were awarded with the Aga Khan Award for Architecture. During the First Gulf War between 1990-1991, they were opened to public once again after undergoing the amendments. In the year 2012, the towers were again closed for some extra amendments.

What else you can explore with Kuwait Towers? It also includes the ‘Horizon Restaurant’ that serves lunch and dinner buffets with a new menu every day.
